This will be the last newsletter of the school year. There are many scheduled items in the upcoming weeks. Please be sure to check the dates to remember at the end of the newsletter.

Music Department Concerts: The time-honored tradition of spring music concerts continues this year with the Chorus Concert on Thursday, May 8, at 6:30 PM and the Band Spring concert on Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 PM.

Marching Band: Any student interested in joining the Marching Band should pick up a handbook packet from Ms. Pierce or in the office. No previous experience is necessary. We are especially looking for any students with an interest in Drumline or Color Guard. Forms should be returned to Ms. Pierce or the office no later than Tuesday, 5/28. There will be a meeting about marching band during MOD 3 (for ms) and MOD 4 (for hs) on May 20th.

Academic Achievements - On May 21 at 7:00 PM we will have the annual Principal’s Awards. Students will be notified by mail if they have qualified for this academic achievement. Congratulations in advance to those who will receive awards.

Eighth Grade field trip: Our students will be heading to Hershey Park on May 28.

Keystone Exams: Students in high school who are taking the keystone exams should remember to be sure their chromebooks are fully charged before testing as all exams are online this year. A letter was mailed home to everyone who is testing. Attendance is important on testing days as final exams begin right after keystones exams, which leaves little time for makeup exams.

Senior Lunch Downtown: The last senior lunch will be held on May 9.

Senior Week Schedule:

Tuesday, May 27 Last Day for Seniors

                10:30 Seniors walk-through at FSG w/caps & gowns

Thursday, May 29       8:00 a.m. Senior Breakfast in the cafeteria

9:00 a.m. Mandatory Graduation Practice in the Auditorium

Friday, May 30 7:00 p.m. Graduation Ceremony- report to the

cafeteria at 6:15 p.m.

Water fountain and cups: I want to share a change that will be happening at the school at the beginning of next school year. Over the winter break, our school installed cup dispensers at each water fountain/bottle filling station. This is done in preparation for a change at the start of the 25-26 school year. In August, there will be no water bottles or open liquid containers permitted in the school during the school day. Students have continued access to water at all stations. Unopened liquids will be permitted in the cafeteria, but they will not be allowed outside of the cafeteria.

Scholarships: The High School Guidance page is being updated often this time of the year! Please keep checking it for new scholarships to be added. See P. Schaut for help. Here is the link h https://mshs.rasd.us/departments/guidance/scholarships/

Per the student handbook, to be considered to attend summer school, students must achieve a score of 65% for the year. Other criteria that will be considered will be the 85% attendance stipulation and academic skills based on the final exam score of 60% or higher. Students will be responsible for all costs and fees associated with summer school (approximately $125) and must abide by all guidelines outlined for summer school as well as earn a minimum of 70% in the summer course. If a student passes summer school, the highest course grade they will receive for the school year is 70%.
